PEEK IN MY WEEK #43 – Week 22 of 2026

Funny enough, I thought I had nothing to write about this week because I mostly spent every waking hour working on the State Shift Training (the final “tail end” after the deck launch). But when I looked at my calendar, it turned out to be another very full week. As usual.

5 – SAYING NO TO SAY YES
Pentecost weekend. Most people on boats, terraces, campsites, soaking up the sun. Me? Working on the State Shift Method training from early morning until late at night. Sometimes sixteen hours a day. Creating, recording, summarizing, creating again.
By some miracle, four people canceled appointments last week. Apparently I was meant to focus on this.
I said no to the boat. No to the terrace. No to “let’s quickly go to a festival.” I barely reached out to anyone because I needed complete focus. And honestly, that was tough, because I genuinely love being around people. But I wanted to finish this so I could finally free up my hands for the marketing side.
James Clear said something beautiful about this: when you say no, you say no to one thing. But when you say yes, you say no to everything else you could’ve done with that time.
No is a decision. Yes is a responsibility.
And sometimes saying no is the most productive thing you can do. Even when everyone else is sitting in the sun.
4 – DELIVERING DECKS AND THE RESPONSES
In between, I personally delivered decks to people like Liesbeth Kingma and Marjan van Buuren. So amazing to see their reactions and hear they’ll hopefully start using them with their own clients too.
Because ultimately, that’s what I want. I want more people to be helped by this. I want people to stop settling for half a life. To realize that insight without action changes nothing. To learn how to move through resistance. From feeling stuck to feeling fully alive.
And yes, I still do everything myself. Every box folded by hand, every package wrapped, every card handwritten, biking back and forth to the post office. But honestly? I love doing it. And then the reactions start coming in. Photos and messages from people in the Netherlands and abroad receiving the deck and getting started with it. Coaches already using it with clients.
That’s just… wow.
3 – MICHAEL JACKSON: THE PRICE OF FAME
One evening I did go out with my Miekie to see the Michael Jackson movie. Mostly for the music, because that remains incredible. The movie itself is pretty romanticized when it comes to all the scandals.
But what really hit me was the painful side of it all. When you become that famous at such a young age, it almost seems impossible not to carry deep damage from it. We all know that intellectually, but the movie makes it painfully visible again.
2 – KOORBAZEN IN ZWOLLE
Sunday evening I finished lesson 6 at exactly 5:59 PM while I was supposed to be at a new friend’s house at 6 PM. Since I had been sweating bullets during the recording session, I desperately needed a shower first, so I basically slid into her house right on time for dinner.
Together we went to see Koorbazen in Zwolle. I had never heard of them before a few people recommended it to me. I had zero expectations except that when I hear “choir,” I picture a church choir, which can also be beautiful by the way.
But this? This was a performance by no less than 50 men. Honestly, it was an experience. Vulnerability, rawness, grief, joy, laughter, playfulness. It was beautiful to watch men show themselves like that. Men together. Without masks.
Highly recommended. Going again next year.
1 – STATE SHIFT STEP: KENSHO OR SATORI
Last week I shared something difficult, and I received many sweet messages asking if I was okay and whether people could help.
I share those things consciously too. Because life here isn’t always sunshine and rainbows either. And it doesn’t have to be.
Vishen Lakhiani shares a concept I really love.
There are two ways we grow. Kensho is growth through pain. That’s the universe hitting you over the head because you weren’t listening. The thing from last week? That was kensho. The big fish.
But there’s also satori. Growth through awareness. Through insight. Through listening to the smaller signals before they become a slap in the face.
What I notice in my own life is this: the more seriously I take the small signals, the less I need the big wake-up calls. Life doesn’t need to hit me as hard when I’m already doing the work myself.
That doesn’t mean difficult things are your fault. That’s not what I’m saying. But it does mean you can choose how you grow. Through pain or through awareness. Through kensho or through satori.
And that’s exactly what the State Shift Method helps with. Learning how to handle life in all its extremes. Taking on the challenge. Becoming fit for life.

No to the boat. No to the terrace. No to distraction. Yes to the work that matters.
No is not a missed opportunity.
No is making space for what truly matters.
