About being fit for the job, sending love, and why EPiC truly lives up to its name.

Peek in my week #31, Week 10 of 2026

This week was one of lots of creating, lots of kid time and not much coaching.

5-4-3-2-1 → ACTION! 🎬 Let’s GO!

5 – FILM: ELVIS EPiC

I worked hard this past week. The first half was a bit quieter due to spring break – did some fun things with my son, but also less fun ones like great-grandma’s funeral I mentioned last week. (Though it was actually really beautiful.)

As you can see in the photo, this is my “hermit mode.” Total isolation, I don’t care about my hair or what I wear. But there are limits, even for me. You can’t always just keep working and working, that’s not healthy for a human being, even though I have no trouble doing it.

So… Sunday afternoon I was sitting behind my laptop yet again and thought: you know what, I’m going to the cinema. That’s really a form of relaxation for me, as you may have noticed if you’ve been following me for a while, and like a true Dutchie I use my cinema subscription to the max.

But which film? I saw on IMDb that Elvis EPiC (stands for Elvis Presley in Concert) had an 8.5, which is sky-high for that website, so I didn’t look any further, got out of my sweatpants and bathrobe, swapped them for my seventies flares and headed to the cinema.

Oh boy, was I glad that I did. It was so good! If someone asks me to go see EPiC again? I’m in. In other words: highly recommended – indeed: EPIC!

The theatre was packed too and you could feel the energy of the other people enjoying this film. And I won’t say anything more except that you see Elvis in his glory days. Just go!

After the film I was even listening to the music. And… I’m not an Elvis fan, right? But what I later read on IMDb was exactly what I felt: “Elvis fans are going crazy. And people who aren’t Elvis fans will become one through this film.”

4 – BARRY MICHELS WEBINAR

Last weekend I was at Barry Michels’ Dark Shadows group session again. (Check it out here if you want to experience what such a session is like.) And there was one moment that really stuck.

Barry was coaching someone struggling with a difficult colleague. You know the type: constantly talking over you, criticising everything, never satisfied.

Barry’s advice surprised me:

So it’s not about finding the right words at all. It’s about energy. About staying with yourself. About not getting pulled into action-reaction. That’s self-leadership. Emotional maturity, as Adel Zorgui put it so beautifully yesterday in his interesting post about it.

3 – ARTICLE: THE WORLD NEEDS YOU

This weekend I wrote a longer article about love in the world. Because OMG what is happening out there. It’s about where our influence actually lies. About not getting pulled into action-reaction. And about why “love sent is love felt.”

→ Read it here or on my LinkedIn.

2 – WIN: PHYSICAL + INNER + FOCUS

WIN = What’s Important Now.

For the attentive reader: I’m currently not working on my book. Also taking a break from creating new workshops. I’m all-in on one thing: the card deck. Because this needs to get out into the world.

Like many people, I’ve learned that too many projects at once fragments my energy. That doesn’t mean I’ve stopped generating ideas for my book or getting on stage. But there are only so many hours in a day. And you want to relax too. It’s already freaking March.

And beyond that? After a few weeks of healthier living I’m already noticing a big difference. Fitter, more calm, happier. And I’ve finally picked up running (if you don’t go in this weather, you’ll never go, haha). Because those 21 kilometres with obstacles aren’t going to run themselves in May.

I train internally too. A love meditation every day. Every morning: meditate, journal, pull a card.

And you know what strikes me? Everyone understands you need to keep exercising to stay fit. Two, three times a week to the gym. Maintenance. Nobody says: “I’ve done enough fitness, I’m done with my muscles.”

But when it comes to inner work? I regularly hear: “I’ve done enough work on myself.”

As if you’re ever done.

Inner work is not a project with an end date. It’s a training. A lifestyle. Just like regular exercise. You have to maintain it.

And it works. I’m really making serious progress on all fronts. What also helps are all the IT tools my boyfriend recommends so I can really go full speed on my big important project. It’s incredible how much work I can get done now. I wish I’d had all this when I wrote my books, although those experiences were also wonderful just as they were.

1 – STATE SHIFT STEP: FOUNTAIN OF LOVE

This tool might sound cheesy. But just look at how much we think negatively. About ourselves. About others. About the world.

The Fountain of Love puts loving energy against that. If only to balance it out somewhat.

How it works: you connect with your own heart, with the love that is everywhere (and if you can’t feel it, think of someone you love deeply) and let it flow from you. Bonus: send it to others. To people in pain, in war. Again: “Love sent is love felt.”

Not because everything is okay. But because you don’t want to get pulled into action-reaction.

Because emotional maturity is not just how the other person responds to your vulnerability. It’s also how you respond to the other person’s inability in that moment. That’s what gives you true freedom.

THE COMMON THREAD

WIN = What’s Important Now.

Being fit for the job. Physically, internally and focus. And then bringing love into the world.

You train. You build. You stay with yourself. You send love. And then you make progress.

FOR YOU

James Clear asked this week:

“What is something that is still worth trying because of what you will learn along the way?”

And: where can you choose love over action-reaction this week?

May the life force be with you,

💖✨ Syl
