Peek in my week #38 – Week 17 of 2026

May 8. Wonders of Work. Utrecht. Be The Change day.

Tools work. Shadow work. Connection. Action. A day together to (re)start closing the gap between who you are and who you want to be. Free. Max 14 people, only a few spots left. More on that below. But first: this week.

5-4-3-2-1 → ACTION! 🎬

5 – YOUR BODY IS NOT A PROJECT

90% of women dislike their body. It usually starts around age thirteen. For me it was fifteen, and I developed bulimia. An overweight teenage girl who thought she would only be okay if she was thin enough.

I am now in my forties. My skin is getting looser. The things I do lifestyle-wise don’t have the same effect they did twenty years ago. And still, sometimes she’s there. That girl. In front of my mirror. With the same message…: not good enough.

This week I was in a session with Alexandra Johnson from Rock Your Goddess Life. About sensuality. About how you are in your body. Or not.

She said: “If we’re in our bodies, we’re not thinking about our bodies.”

Oefff that hit.

As long as you are focused on how your body looks, you’re not in it. You’re standing next to it. Judging it.

Someone mentioned the book “More Than a Body” by Lindsay and Lexie Kite. “Your body is an instrument, not an ornament.” Exactly… take care of it with love.

Because how many hours, weeks, months… let’s be honest: how many years have we wasted judging our own reflection?

Not a coincidence that I had just been asked to write another article for Powervrouw, of course about this exact topic.

I sat there thinking: “Fuck, I’m part of that 90%. The coach who helps others with their Saboteur is still regularly right in the middle of the fight herself.” Well, plenty to write about for that magazine…

I am also always a work in progress. I don’t do this from “I’ve solved it.” I do it from “I move through it every day.” Just like you. 🙏

4 – THE HIJACK

I now coach using the pilot card deck of my State Shift Method. So cool to see what happens.

A client described exactly what was on the card. Before I even showed it to him. He already had the image in his mind.

It was about the hijack. When your shadow takes over because it doesn’t feel seen. He called it his evil twin brother.

Because that’s what happens. Your shadow is not a quiet passenger on your life journey. It takes the wheel when you push it away. And before you know it, you’re no longer driving. It is.

For that client it was his evil twin. For me it’s that teenage girl in front of the mirror. Different face. Same dynamic.

Pre-order is still possible: [PRE-ORDER LINK] and come pick it up on May 8, also my birthday. Let’s celebrate together. 🎉

3 – CLAUDE AS MY RIGHT HAND

Something different. I design my entire training with the help of Claude. Editing texts, structuring, building it up. Claude helps me bring The State Shift Method® into the world. It’s incredible that this is possible.

Friday I attended the Claude Code workshop by Frank Meeuwsen at Wonders of Work. Claude Code is the next step: Claude working directly on your computer.

I already use it partly and recently had it clean up quite a bit. Ideal. But I know there’s much more in it. Only… I wasn’t fully present and didn’t get everything out of this great workshop. So I’m going again on June 19. With full attention this time. Want to join?

2 – RONALDINHO AS A LIFE COACH

I watched the Ronaldinho documentary with my son. I’m not a football fan, as I’ve mentioned before, but I support my child and I love stories.

What struck me most? Not how good he was, obviously. But how much fun he had.

That man was always playing football. Going to the store, still playing. Not because he had to. Because it was his whole being. He loved it so much.

I recognize that deeply, because that’s how I am with the Tools®. I consume everything I can find about it and share it with anyone who wants to hear it. I have so much fun in my work that I forget it is work. I’m watching an American webinar at ten in the evening, way past my bedtime, about shadow work and I’m thinking: this is my hobby. But it is my work.

Being asked for the Shadow Summit by Barry Michels comes from that too. They know I’m always there and doing the work myself, with all the ups and downs. Like Ronaldinho said, it all comes with it.

1 – JUST FLIP A COIN

On my Happinez calendar there was a quote by Jantine Jongbloed:

Beautiful. And at the same time stressful, because you have to choose and most people find that difficult.

Tip from psychologist Frank van Harreveld: flip a coin. Pay attention while it’s in the air to what you hope it lands on.

Simple and powerful.

Are you joining the Be The Change day?

I spent years reading books, doing trainings, following courses. I “knew everything.” But I barely applied it, because I didn’t really know how. So I had insights and knowledge, but what is it worth if you don’t use it? Knowing is not enough. Insight is not enough. You have to do it.

So… that’s what we’re going to do on May 8. Be The Change day. Wonders of Work. Utrecht.

Shadow work. Tools. Learning from each other. Connection. Action.

You’ll get to know your Saboteur. You transform your shadow from enemy to ally. You learn to distinguish facts from distortions. And you meet people who, like you, are working on closing the gap between who they are and who they want to be.

Not a training where you just listen. A day of DOING together.

You have to do it yourself. But you don’t have to do it alone.

Feel like it? Don’t wait too long, it’s filling up. [SIGN-UP LINK] 🔥

I’m off to stretch my hamstrings for the Spartan Beast next month. It’s definitely going to be a long 21 km walk with obstacles, because I’m injured. Yes, now I have a valid excuse. 😅

That is exactly what I stand for in everything I do. So: welcome.

Thanks for reading. 🙏

May the Life Force be with you.

💞 Syl

On twelve shoe saleswomen in six minutes, overcoming body shame in the sauna, and dancing with your eyes closed

I thought it would be a quiet week. It wasn’t.

Performed on stage as a shoe saleswoman with twelve faces, went to the sauna solo for the first time, slept twelve hours after nine months of building, and recorded a podcast that left me speechless.

Silvia Bogers said something that stuck: “You only become magnetic when you stop wanting people to see you.”

Phil Stutz writes: “You’ve been stripped bare. The universe wants you like that.”

In the sauna I stood there. No clothes, no shame. On stage without a safety net. In the podcast raw and open. Stripped. REAL. And right there: FULLY ALIVE.

About saying no during Pentecost, 50 singing men in a warehouse, and the price of fame

Pentecost weekend. Everyone out on boats, terraces, soaking up the sun.
Me? Working on my training sixteen hours a day.

No to the boat.
No to the terrace.
No to “let’s quickly visit a market.”

James Clear wrote: when you say no, you say no to one thing. When you say yes, you say no to everything else you could’ve done with that time.

No is not a missed opportunity.
No is making space for what truly matters.
